Character Development- what's the journey that she goes on from start to end of act 1:
- (Scenes Kathryn appears in and what do we see/were is she at)
Scene 1- she's a young girl, aged 14- big fun personality that's not pushed down. We see her relationship with Irene- we see her experiencing youth, we see her messing around. She holds a sense of energy along with Irene, they are both quite naive
- At this point in time she has no idea whatsoever that the radium is dangerous
Time gap
Scene 3- 4 year time jump, we see a more romantic side to Kathryn as she's become an older teenager, she's sweet hearted- still the same big innocent personality from the first scene- she's just older- less playful more talkative, we see that older teenage sense, but she remains familiar.
- we see her enjoying working with Grace and Irene, she's still blind to the dangers surrounding Radium, but Grace has a very small incline that something feels off. This is the start of Irene's health decline.
Time gap- very intense saddening part of her life --- time gap of estimated 6 month
Scene 7- Irene has recently died when this scene starts, Although Kathryn has not aged massively in years, you would assume she has- no longer playful or innocent, her once bubbly kind sense gone. She's agitated, but in a very raw deep sense of grief that is masked slightly at the start of the scene through determination to be heard. She's frustrated, but also in an action of panic, she's also easily teary, and although presents an element of aggression throughout the scene, is still very much sensitive. This scene portrays a different Kathryn to the one we have been presented with before and theirs so much more emotion behind her eyes.
time gap- grieving stage --- time gap of estimated 3 weeks
Scene 10- Graces doctor visit. We see the the remaining change of Kathryn, and the start of her hopelessness when it comes to her life. We also see the visual start of her getting sicker here, entering the scene with a walking stick and a sense of visual discomfort.
