We started off today by doing some warm up activities such as mafia boss, and the untangle game- both games that rely on focus and problem solving which lent itself to our next activity were we started building around the concept of concealing secrets, as the iconic villains we are trying to channel have secrets at the centre of their lives. This activity included taking a true story and changing an element of it that was concealed from the audience, they then needed to figure out which part wasn't true and didn't match up. This activity was there to highlight how discreet the secrets can be that are characters will potentially keep, whilst also giving us ideas on how to employment them into the ghost light tour itself.
The second part of the session was then spent taking a look into the stage play of the iconic board game "CLUE", getting into groups and putting together a scene from the play itself. The focus from doing this was to highlight the individual characters and their personality and to show how Important the characterisation is to convey the story for the audience. The script for clue is also very melodramatic- with elements of exggsadurated comedy within it that lend to a certain type of over the top acting. it was good to have this experimentation with big characters, as its going to be important when doing the ghost light tours, but also Phinoccio at Christmas.Wednesday 2nd October 2024
Today we got to do a read through of the first draft of our ghost light tour script. There's still some changes to be made and sections to be added, but as a whole it was a really good way of being able to visualise what the tour would feel like and look like. We read it out the same way we would normally read out the projects we're working on- with everyone sat in a circle and each character readout spontaneously by different people. By reading it out this way there was an oppotunity for multiple people to go for the same character, giving everyone the chance to show what they can bring to the character. It was also a chance to get a feel for the dialogue that our potential character might be saying and how it sat with us.
There was then a chance to do a kind of recall of our auditions the week prior with the new sections of dialogue, so there was time spent at the end of the day watching and showing them.
